More than motivation

Motivation is fleeting. No matter how excited we are to start something new, or to re-engage in an activity that we’ve been neglecting, the novelty will wear away. The passion and excitement will fade.

Which is why we need to continually look for motivation. Simply finding inspiration once isn’t enough, we need to refuel that inspiration regularly.

But even that isn’t good enough. We can’t be content to only execute when we happen to have motivation.

So the only sure way to make an impact is to be able to drudge on, despite our level of motivation.

Sure, it’s great to ride the highs when they come, but more than anything we need to be able to keep moving forward, even when we don’t feel like it.
