Technology has made global coordination an afterthought. It’s common practice for project teams to include multiple members from different continents all seamlessly working together. Phone, email, IM, and video calls make it feel like you’re working across the street from your colleagues rather than across the world.
But despite all of the amazing technological strides we’ve made through the years, there’s still nothing quite like meeting face to face.
More is said in the first 10 minutes of looking someone in the eyes than could be conveyed in a year of communicating through different mediums.
Ask anyone who has had a remote working relationship with someone and then met that individual in person for the first time.
Almost without fail, the relationship leaps to a new level of effectiveness and generosity within minutes.
