Ideas vs. Execution

Uber didn’t get off the ground because of their idea. I’m sure countless other people had dreamt of someday calling a cab with a phone.

Thomas Edison’s idea for a carbon-filament light bulb isn’t why we know his name. There were plenty of other people who had come up with essentially the same product at the same time, or even slightly before him.

Someday cars are going to drive you around without any input from the driver. It’s inevitable. No one’s going to make a lot of money by being the first to come up with this idea.

Uber won because they were the first to execute the idea.

Edison won because he marketed his technology better than anyone else.

The mobility companies that win will be the first ones to overcome the technological hurdles and safely implement autonomous driving technology.

It’s almost never the ideas that matter. Everyone has ideas.

It’s the execution that makes the difference.
