On weekdays when I don’t go to the gym in the morning, my default is to delay eating until dinner time.
When I started this practice early last year, I always hedged.
I would pack myself a few small snacks “just in case” I got hungry during the day.
And almost inevitably, I would get hungry and end up eating everything I brought.
Over time, I realized that there was only one solution that reliably worked.
I no longer bring any food.
I leave the house with a water bottle (that I tend to refill frequently on these fasting days) and that’s it.
Surprisingly, I don’t get hungry during the day anymore.
It’s simple, but it points to the importance of removing options from our lives when we have a clear objective.
