Remember when all of the credit card machines made the switch from “swipe” to “insert” to accommodate the new chips built into the cards?

It was a pain. It felt like an unnecessary inconvenience that would seemingly take forever until the confusion and uncertainty stopped.

But eventually, it went away. Now we don’t even think about it. We use the safer, more secure card reading technique, and we never have to think about whether we should be swiping instead.

That’s how widespread change happens.

It’s annoying at first. It seems like it’ll take forever, and that it’s more effort than it’s worth.

But if there’s a clear direction (in this case a nation-wide mandate), a set timeline, and a good plan, then the initial pain subsides.
