Minor typos or formatting errors don’t really matter.
As long as the reader can still easily understand the message, the little details are insignificant.
But of course there’s more to the story than that.
A missed period in a email isn’t just a minor nuance for the reader, it’s a signal – a signal that the reader isn’t important enough for the writer to take the time to proofread, and a signal that the writer doesn’t pay attention to details.
Sometimes this really is insignificant. But in many cases (for example in a business in which the primary communication and deliverables are provided in a written format), it might be enough to make your customers think twice before doing business with you.
