Kanye’s closing line in his 2010 hit, Power, is a rhetorical question – “You got the power to let power go?”

There’s plenty more to unpack in that song (besides the catchy beat that got it on the radio) but let’s just focus on that closing question for now. The power to let power go.

The Stoics say that man is not wealthy who has much, but who wants little. This strikes along a similar vein.

How powerful can you be if you’re held captive to that power?

How rich are you if you don’t have the freedom to say and do the things you want? How much benefit are you getting from your health routine if you freak out every time you eat poorly, miss a workout, or have a poor night of sleep? How powerful are you if you can’t walk away?
