Motivated?

Performing when we’re motivated is easy. Anyone can proudly walk into the gym on January 2nd or be excited about a healthy meal on the first day of their diet.

But motivation is fleeting.

No matter how excited we are when we start on a new quest, it won’t last. Eventually the novelty will wear away, and we’ll find ourselves exactly where we were before – tired, discouraged, and at risk of falling back into our old habits.

The most successful people have a secret though.

It’s not that they magically wake up motivated every day. It’s not that they always look forward to the grind and find themselves eager to jump out of bed.

They simply show up. Even when they don’t feel like it.

Or more accurately, especially when they don’t feel like it.

That’s the difference. Sure there’s value in seeking motivation and putting ourselves in a positive place with a great support network. That’s incredibly important.

But even more important is our ability to show up every day to do our work, even we’re short on motivation.
