When we have something fun planned, we can’t wait for it to start. We suffer through work or school, distracted and not doing much productive.
We struggle in the days and weeks leading up to the event, but it’s ok because just the thought of how great it will be is enough to put a smile on our face.
The problem is that we get used to living in the future.
If we can’t appreciate the present in the days leading up to the event, why will it be different once the long-awaited time comes?
We think that we’ll be able to shift to the present once we’re doing something we enjoy, but it’s not that easy.
As much fun as it can be to dream about the exciting times in front of us, the best approach might just be to live in the present.
