Living our lives in public might be one of the most powerful enablers at our disposal.
Not public as in using the internet as a veil we hide behind when we want to throw out outlandish thoughts without the perceived risk of being in-person. Or designing a carefully-curated public life that fails to show anything authentic.
But making meaningful work and putting it in the world, with our name attached.
When we do this, we eliminate our tendency to hide, which forces us to be more thoughtful about what we release. We also draw on the power of positive peer pressure, and we open the door to the serendipity that can occur when others know what we’re working on.
The internet isn’t meant for spam or for hiding. It’s meant for putting our best work in public.
