The difference between the difficulty of a typical pull-up you see in the gym compared to a true dead hang pull-up that ends with chest-to-bar isn’t a 10% upgrade in difficulty, or even a 50% change. A true dead hang pull-up is closer to 3 or 4 times as hard as an acceptable “normal” pull-up.
That means switching to strict dead hangs comes with quite a blow to the ego.
But it also comes with a similar boost in practical and functional strength gains.
Exercise isn’t the place for ego.
