March felt like it would never end.
Now, April has flown by.
The novelty of the entire world being flipped on its head sent us into a consistent flow of fear, anxiety, and curiosity. As we’ve settled into our new routines, the novelty has worn away and experience eerily similar days on repeat.
Our perception of time is heavily influenced by the degree of change in our life, which means that major shake-ups such as key life events, changing jobs, moving to a new home, or having our outside lives put on hold shake up the routine and help us to experience every moment as it passes. It also means that time seems to fly by when we experience prolonged periods without any significant shake-ups.
There’s still a lot we can’t do, and there will likely be restrictions for some time to come, but even within our limited set of options, there are more than enough ways for us to shake things up.
Our initial eagerness to try new things and take advantage of this unique time has likely died down. Now’s a good time to restart that energy and slow things back down.
