Better to be behind?

It’s clearly better to be winning at halftime, right? Maybe not.

An interesting study found that, although basketball teams that are ahead by a significant margin at halftime do in-fact tend to win more often, the story isn’t quite as clear for close games.

In fact, the researchers found that the team losing a very close game at halftime actually had a higher chance of winning than the team that had a slight lead at halftime.

The slight deficit seemingly is enough to give us extra motivation to turn up our effort in the second half.
