Looking out for the others

When things get tough, the natural reaction is to focus on ourselves.

What do need to do to stay healthy? How are we going to survive? How do we keep ourselves entertained?

But what if we turned that around?

What if instead, we thought about how we can play our part in the bigger picture, and how we can support those around us who need it?

By doing this, we accomplish several things.

First, we have the chance to actually do good for others.

Second, we’re able to get out of our own heads and spend some of our energy thinking about something bigger than ourselves.

And finally, when this is all over, people won’t forget how we acted now.

Months, or years, down the line when times are good, we’ll remember who retreated into their shell and made everything about themselves, and who was there for us when we needed them.
