We’d like to believe that everything makes sense. That everyone around us makes rationally sound judgements and decisions.
But that’s far from the case.
We don’t always buy the best product. We consistently fail to make the healthiest choices. We rarely hire the objectively best candidate.
That’s how it works. Little in life actually happens the way it “should.”
As I’ve been exposed to more and more higher-level decisions, it’s almost laughable how much things like relationships, emotions, luck, and ignorance actually make a difference.
Which is why it’s so important to focus our efforts inward.
If we gave a poor effort or simply didn’t perform, then sure that’s a different story. But there’s no point in beating ourselves up over a loss or an apparent failure simply because the end result wasn’t positive.
