One of my past mentors had a habit of saying that he still didn’t know what he wanted to be “when he grew up.”

I used to laugh because, as a recent college grad, it seemed ridiculous that someone in his late 20s wouldn’t already have it all figured out. It seemed irresponsible that he was legitimately still exploring at that age.

But now that I’m nearing my late 20s, my perspective has been flipped on its head.

I certainly don’t feel like I’ve fully “grown up” and I seem to still have more questions than answers when it comes to my career. Yet I wouldn’t want to be in a different situation. I seem to be moving in a positive direction and the possibilities still seem to be limited only by my ability to dream.

Maybe eventually I’ll look back and feel like I’ve fully grown up, or maybe not. Regardless, I’m not in a hurry to get there.
