How long does it take a close relationship?
If you’re starting from scratch, I’d argue that it’s typically on the order of years before a deep, trusting business relationship can be built.
There needs to be ample opportunities to talk, both about work and about things outside of work, and there needs to be a time element to assure each party that they’re seeing the other for who they truly are rather than simply seeing an act.
This timeline can obviously be shorten though.
Being in contact every day helps to build trust a lot quicker than just once per month.
Big events, either positive or negative, can do the same thing.
And even something as simple as a reputation can have a big impact.
But regardless how many of these factors come into play, there’s no replacement for time. I’ll trust someone who I’ve enjoyed working with for 5 years over someone I just met last month every time.
