If it takes us a week to respond to other peoples’ needs, why should we expect them to respond any sooner?

Too often, I see people pestering and relentlessly following up, looking for an answer. Yet these same people are the worst at responding when the ball is in their court.

Sure, sometimes there are power dynamics or some other forces at play to change the equation, but generally the level of effort, attention, responsiveness, etc. that you get from someone is directly proportional to the level you put in.
