A car’s 0-60 time tells me how quickly it can get of the line.
The 30-70 time tells me how quickly I can pass a slow driver on the highway.
Fuel economy tells me how much I’ll spend on gas.
Horsepower tells me the maximum power output at a given engine speed.
Etc.
But no matter how many of these quantitative measurements we make, it’s almost impossible to answer the most important question – Will I have fun driving the car?
The driving experience isn’t about metrics. It’s about the little things that can’t be measured. The things that give a car soul.
As our world continues to push towards more and more numeric measurements and metrics, it’s worth remembering that the numbers can only get us so far.
