We all have our own default answers when things come our way, whether we know it or not.

Some people automatically say no to requests. They assume they can’t handle anything more, so they take the easy way out. Only through dedicated persuasion efforts do they finally buy in and agree to whatever is being asked.

Others are the complete opposite. They always want more. No matter what is going on in their life, they get excited by every new opportunity and want to be the first ones to sign up.

And most people are somewhere in between – they default to “yes” in some situations, and “no” in others.

It’s worth figuring out what type of person we’re dealing with.

When a “no” person rejects our initial request, we shouldn’t get offended. We should just realize that we have work to do to get them on board.

Same thing with a fast positive response from a “yes” person. We should take it with a grain of salt.

And finally, we need to know what type of people we are.

Simply understanding our instincts and observing our initial reactions can help us to make more rational decisions.
