Roles and Responsibilities

Everyone comes to a discussion with their own motivation.

One person might want to save money. One might need to make sure the timeline is followed. One might want to develop the best possible product. One might want to build a relationship. And one might just want the meeting over quickly so they can start their weekend.

Everyone’s actions will be influenced by their personal stake in the situation.

Body language is a good indicator and is easy enough to monitor throughout the discussion, but it often pays to go a step further by doing the necessary legwork beforehand to understand everyone’s roles and responsibilities.

It’s tough enough to navigate a complex environment. Why do it in the dark?
