Finding a coach

The best people to learn from aren’t necessarily the best at the things they teach.

The naturally gifted math-mind doesn’t understand what it’s like to struggle with the concept of division.

The athletic freak can rely on her athleticism to make plays so she never had to fully understand the nuances of a sport.

So the best people to learn from are often the ones who had to struggle.

It’s the teacher who spent his years in his teacher’s office struggling to get by or the undersized athlete who had to look for an edge to make up for her physical shortcomings.

There’s a big difference between being good at something and being able to teach someone else to be good.

It’s not surprising that the minds behind the Patriots and Alabama dynasties are un-athletic 5’11” Bill Belichick and 5’6″ Nick Saban.
